Kerubi

Kerubi has brought independent culture to Joensuu since the 90s. When the house was renewed in 2025, we distilled the restaurant, the music venue and the nightclub into one word: hunger.

Kerubi is for those hungry for food, hungry for culture and above all hungry for life. When someone asks “Hungry?”, people in Joensuu should know where to go. The same question works for a burger and a gig.

More than a hundred artists perform at Kerubi every year, from stand-up to bands and from techno raves to theater. When the walls aren’t enough, the party moves to Ilosaari or Joensuu Areena. That’s why Kerubi talks like a year-round festival.

The identity is as loud as the house. Five bright colors, a thick headline typeface and pictures where a burger is shoved at the camera and a beer is drunk on the toilet. Hunger is rarely polite.
